About SalaryByRole
Free, transparent salary data for 30+ job roles across 50+ countries — no login required.
Our Mission
Salary data is often locked behind paywalls, job applications, or requires sharing personal information. SalaryByRole exists to make global salary comparison free and accessible to everyone — whether you are a job seeker, a recruiter, a hiring manager, or just curious about compensation worldwide.
Data Sources
We aggregate salary data from multiple publicly available and reputable sources:
- U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) — Official government occupational employment and wage statistics for the United States.
- LinkedIn Salary Insights — Crowdsourced compensation data from LinkedIn's professional network.
- Glassdoor — Employee-reported salary data across industries and geographies.
- Levels.fyi — Total compensation data for technology and engineering roles.
- World Bank Open Data — GDP, PPP, and economic indicators for international normalization.
Data is manually curated and updated annually. The current dataset reflects 2025–2026 compensation figures.
Methodology
All salaries are expressed as gross annual compensation in USD. For non-US countries, local salary data is converted to USD using average exchange rates for the reference year. We report the 25th percentile as "Min", 50th percentile (median) as the headline figure, and 75th percentile as "Max".
Experience levels are defined as:
- Junior — 0–2 years of relevant experience
- Mid-level — 3–6 years of relevant experience
- Senior — 7+ years of relevant experience
Purchasing Power Parity (PPP)
A salary of $50,000 in the United States and $50,000 in India have very different real-world values. PPP adjustment normalizes salaries so you can compare the actual purchasing power they represent.
For each country, we apply an IMF-sourced PPP factor. A PPP factor of 3.0 for India means that $30,000 earned in India buys roughly the same goods and services as $90,000 in the United States — a significant real-world difference that raw USD figures hide.
PPP-adjusted figures are shown alongside raw USD figures throughout the site.
Privacy

All salary figures on SalaryByRole are estimates based on aggregated public data.
